Deities & Phenomena

Faith

Faith is an intricate and multifaceted aspect of life in the world of Valier, encompassing a wide array of beliefs that extend beyond traditional deity worship. In Valier, faith is not limited to venerating divine entities but extends to reverence for cosmic forces, natural phenomena, and even the tangible presence of magic. Temples, shrines, and diverse belief systems are woven into the very fabric of Valier's cultures, with most inhabitants practicing some form of faith, making it an integral part of daily life.

Non-Belief

In the world of Valier, non-belief in gods is not an uncommon stance among the diverse inhabitants who walk its lands. However, this non-belief is not a matter of denying the existence of deities or cosmic forces. Instead, it stems from a conscious decision to withhold faith and allegiance from any deity or force. Those who walk this path, have left indelible marks on the world, carving a unique niche in a realm where divine intervention and faith have tangible consequences.

The Founders

Theologists debate what began the process of founding the world they now live in, but it is commonly agreed that the Founders, a collective term referring to the original deities, collaborated in its process and brought with it the many native people of the material plane. They played a pivotal role in the creation of the world and its subsequent history. These Founders are a dozen divine entities, divided into Benevolent and Malevolent Deities, each representing different aspects and ideals.

The Benevolent Deities champion compassion and care for mortals, while the Malevolent Deities believe in letting the strong reap the rewards, showing little regard for the suffering of mortals. This ideological rift among the Founders led to the first divine conflict and the subsequent division of the world into the Planes of Existence.

The Founders, in essence, are the originators of the world's structure that emerged during the Divine Conflict.
